Deciduous

The Orchard ODEs #1 of 12

January 2016 – Sebastopol, CA.

Our journey began beneath this tree. A year in pictures. A pilgrimage to an apple orchard. On this scene the shutter opened ten thousand times.

It was a journey of the deciduous.

At first the tree was bare. But it leafed out, it flowered, it bore fruit and dropped it. Over time every leaf would fall to the ground.

Amy wore something different each month but beneath the veneer of cloth and leather I discerned no change. These photos chronicle a remarkable consistency.

I captured more than reflections here. These are affirmations beyond form. It took thousands of photographs in order to understand a simple but startling truth: every day we are reborn.
